Although we do take a lot of day trips, my family also loves to go on long hikes. My mind was set at ease when I realized that the Kelty Redwing 44 is prefect for my need here as well. In order to compensate for the addition of weight due to things like water bottles, the Kelty Redwing 44 is complete with padded straps that can be adjusted to fit a wide range of sizes.
It also contains load lifter straps that help to shift the weight from the shoulder to the hips and back to the shoulders as needed. Plus, the sternum strap is height adjustable in order to prevent chafing.
All of those features are great but, we haven’t even gotten to the best part yet. Besides the fact that the Kelty Redwing 44’s main compartment is large enough to fit all of my needs, it is hydration compatible. What does that mean? It means that this marvelous backpack contains an interior compartment that holds a “bare bladder” – a rubber container that contains a tube for water.
The compartment is lined and has a place specifically for the tube to go through. Why stop and unscrew a bottle cap when you can just grab a drink of water from your handy little tube?
