Kelty Redwing 3100
Are you planning a day trip or a several day excursion in the near future? Now is the time to think about the equipment and items you will need to bring. A quality, sturdy backpack is the best option but, how do you decide which pack is worth the investment? It can be tricky and many have found themselves in the same place you are in.The last thing you want is to invest in a pack that may tear halfway through your trip leaving your own trail of items on the hiking trail. Or how much fun would it be to find out that your pack is leaking and your once clean clothes are damp?
A company that many have found to offer high quality, roomy and sturdy backpacks is Kelty. They offer a wide variety of pack sizes to ensure that their consumers will find the best fit for them.
One of the bigger packs they offer is the Redwing 3100. But, recently, the Kelty Company has made a few changes; they have replaced this pack with the Kelty Redwing 50.
Although the Kelty Redwing 50 has replaced the Redwing 3100, it is gone but not forgotten. The Kelty Redwing 3100 pack was so named for its 3100 cubic inch packing space. This much main compartment space allowed enough room to pack everything you might need for a several day trip.
Why the change you might ask? Actually, there is not much of a difference between the Redwings 3100 and the 50. The compartment size has actually stayed the same. The 3100 cubic inch space offered in the Redwing 3100 is equivalent to the 51 litre space available in the Kelty Redwing 50. However, small difference can be noted which only enhances the Kelty product experience.
The Redwing 50 is available in five different colours unlike the 3100 which was only available in black. Although the colour of a pack may not be a necessary or important change for some, think about the family who is going on a trip and don’t want to be confused as to who’s pack is who’s. Or the individual who might be going out with a large group and doesn’t want to get their pack confused amongst the crowd. This new feature suddenly becomes very important.
Another change that Kelty has made is the option for two different waistband sizes. Now, the Redwing 50 can be found with a waistband size of S/M 37-47cm or M/L 44-53cm.
Besides the fact that Kelty used a better polyester fabric on the Redwing 50, everything else in comparison to the Kelty Redwing 3100 is the same. You will still be getting the easily accessible front and side compartments for better organization, the hydration compartment, the sturdy zippers, internal suspension features that allow for better weight control and distribution and of course, the quality and durability of the Kelty name.
A pack with so many exceptional features is truly worth the small investment it takes for you to put your mind about packing your items at ease.
